New Chair, Members for Creative Leadership Council Announced

Communities, Culture and Heritage (Jan. 2011 - Aug. 2021)

The Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council today, Oct. 2, welcomed a new chair and three new members. Another member was reappointed to a second term.

Communities, Culture and Heritage Minister Tony Ince announced Pamela Scott-Crace will be chair, Martine Durier-Copp, Barbara Manning and Trevor Murphy are new members, and Jamie MacLellan has been reappointed.

"Arts and culture contribute to healthy and vibrant communities that inform and reflect the lives of Nova Scotians across the province," said Mr. Ince. "This group of passionate, dedicated volunteers helps develop provincial policy for Nova Scotia's creative sector and allows for collaboration between government and the sector."

The new members continue the council's commitment to ensuring it reflects the cultural, professional and geographic diversity of Nova Scotia.

Ms. Durier-Copp is a professor of public administration, director for the Centre for Advanced Management Education at Dalhousie University and the director of Halifax-based Flamenco en Rouge.

Ms. Manning is an entrepreneur and the past CEO and president of a global marketing and software company with experience in strategic planning, operations management, leadership and international business.

Mr. Murphy is a music industry professional with more than 10 years in the province's music community and broader cultural industries.

Mr. MacLellan has been reappointed after one term on the council and on its executive. He is the public art co-ordinator for Halifax, responsible for an inventory of about 300 art and heritage objects.

Ms. Scott-Crace is chair of contemporary dance company Mocean Dance and serves on the boards of Discovery Centre and Engage Nova Scotia, and on the Halifax Viennese Opera Ball event committee.

The new members join Carol Beaton, Terrilee Bulger, Laurie Dalton, Fiona Diamond, Troy Greencorn, Scott Long, Candace Stevenson, Susan Tooke and department staff representatives Marcel McKeough and Peggy Tibbo-Cameron.

"The Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council is thrilled with the appointment of Barbara Manning, Martine Durier-Copp and Trevor Murphy, and on the reappointment of Jamie MacLellan," said Pamela Scott-Crace, chair. "These new appointees bring invaluable experience and expertise, and their desire to serve on this council demonstrates a recognition of the potential that the creative economy holds for Nova Scotia's future."

The Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council is a partnership between the cultural sector and the government of Nova Scotia designed to foster better understanding and decision-making. It provides advice and leadership to government, advises on policies and programs to promote arts and culture and represents the sector's interests and acts as a voice for artists and cultural workers.
