Premier Offers Condolences on Passing of Al Graham

Premier Stephen McNeil extended his condolences to the family and friends of retired Nova Scotia Senator Al Graham, who passed away Wednesday, April 22.

Mr. Graham was appointed to the Senate of Canada in 1972 by Pierre Trudeau and retired in 2004, at the mandatory retirement age of 75. He earned several key positions, including deputy leader and leader of the government in the Senate. He also served as a member of Jean Chretien's cabinet.

"Al Graham's contributions to the political landscape in Canada are well known. He was passionate about our region and its people and he represented us with great distinction. That is an example we should all aspire to," said Premier McNeil.

"Al also instilled wonderful values in his children and many of them have gone on to follow his example by serving their own communities. To his entire family, on behalf of government, I offer my deepest condolences."
