Admiral Digby Museum

Sam Langford was one of the greatest fighters in the twentieth century. As an African Canadian born in poverty on March 4th, 1886, Langford was marginalized from the beginning. He made a name for himself, and his hometown of Weymouth Falls when he became an international boxing celebrity. Newspapers featuring articles praising Langford include but are not limited to: The Boston Globe (December 9, 1903), The Chicago Defender (June 28, 1924), and The New York Tribune (December 25, 1944).
