This Indenture made think [blank] day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen between John Bazalgette Esquire a Captain in the 98th now resident in Halifax Nova Scotia of the one part, and Daniel Acres a black man of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Bazalgette for and in consideration of the rents covenants and agreements herein reserved & contained and which by and on the part and behalf of the said Daniel Acres are to be paid, kept, done and performed. He the said John Bazalgette hath demised, leased, let and to farm let and by these presents doth demise lease, let and to farm let unto the said Daniel Acres a certain lot tract piece or parcel of land situated lying and being on Beaver Bank, in the county of Hants abutted and bounded as follows. Vis. beginning at the west side of the river which empties itself into the Shubenacadie great Lake at the North Est Angle of lands granted to Robert Fletcher from thence to run South 72 (degrees) thence eighteen chains on till it meets the boundary line of a Lot leased unto John Francklin, and marked No. 2 in the accompanying plan thence North 30 (degrees) West, or along said boundary line until it meets the river thence along shore down stream, and by the margin of the Shubernacadie great Lake to the place of beginning, said lot containing twenty seven acres more or less, agreealy to the plan hereuntil annexed, as on reference being thereunto had will more fully appear, together with all and singular the Buildings, ways, water courses, waters, easements, commodities, and appurtenances to the said lot of land hereby demised, belonging, or in any ways appertaining. To have and to hold the said lot of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Daniel Acres from day of the date hereof for and during the full term of twenty years and from thence for and during the natural life of the said Daniel Acres He yielding and paying therefor upon the first day of July yearly and every year during the
