Halifax November 2d, 1813
Sir, I beg leave to acquaint you that the quantity of molasses, I ladi in some time since for the use of the negroes at Melville Island, will be entirely expended this day, and that there is not one puncheon to be procured in Halifax, which has actually been the case for the last fortnight. I have therefore to request you will be pleased to obtain His Excellency's approbation to my spring [?] sugar in a proper proportion in lieu thereof.
