Iisle of Sable July 26th 1802 12

Mr Wallis

Sir

I have the pleasure to inform you of the afairs of this place and what has hapened on the tenth instant at 9 o Clock i discovered from the flagstaf a Ship on Shoar about four miles down the pond on the South Side my Self and the men proceed.d down with the boat in order to give all a Sistance we could but none could be given to them we found they had made a raft and atempted to Reach the Shoar but the high surf prevented them the Raft upset with Cap.tn and five Seaman on it but hauling a Line past from the Ship they got on board a gain they then sent a Rope on Shoar with ^an anchor bag we sent them a boat by the Same in halling the boat onboard she fild near full of wayter one Seaman and a passenger got in the boat to make for the Shore the boat was upset the Seaman gain.d the Shore and the passenger was drown.d the body washed on Shoar which we took great care of i found with him a gold wach
