other Commissioners asking for, and under the authority of Government to pay, or cause to be paid to each of the before named four servants, Three pounds Nova Scotia currency per month as wages, and to find them in provision during the Continuance of their service on the Island to Commence the 9th day of this month of July 1804. In witness whereof We, the said John Hallett, Guy Morris, John Myers and Samuel Gibbon have each of us voluntarily subscribed our names at Halifax Nova Scotia this 7th Day of July in the Year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred & four

I Edward Hodgson whose name is hereunto subscribed, being desirous to be employed on Sable Island in the service of Government and having heard read over and considered the forgoing articles of agreement do hereby voluntarily engage to serve one whole year from the date hereof on the terms and Conditions therein espressed and will proceed immediately with my family in the Shallop now going to the Island under the Command of Cap't Harty.
