Country Harbour Oct'r 4th [1849?]

My friend I received your letter from Capt. Darby 1th First
I am ready to embark for the Isle & sooner I expect, the better, have the following ready to put on board 2 tt of salted cod fish, 3 quintle dry 3 tt Mackeral 2 tt herring - all in excellent order - and should empty casks be sent here 30 bushels of potatoes notwithstanding the various & erroneous reports of the castaway people from Sable Island, I am under some [word?] respecting the report from the Cap't of the Brig lately stranded on that Island of the bad conduct of Price the black fellow, it is the first ever told me he was lazy man on the Island and sir you may rely on my sending him and every other person from that Island with such a disposition, the first opportunity - while I have the Honor to manage the business
I [word?] Hodgson to write me the first opportunity how the fellow conduct'd & what clothing he stood in need of. I am yet in hopes he is pardonable
Frampton & Finlan are ready to embark for the Isle, hay can be made on the Island until the mid of Novemb'r I am not concerned or uneasy that the stock
will suffer for want of hay, or proper attention. their is not better stables in Nova Scotia for the N." of cattle the [word?] bill is what I have received from W'm Deblois [illegible] in good order but the price of the Honey & Onions are surprising they must be very scarce indeed
Please order the acct. paid & [illegible] to account of your Most Ob. & Hum. Serv. James Morris
