Sable Island 25th October 1847

Sir this is to show your Excellency the usage I received from Mr Darby after I was brought up from the Eastern Establishment the day after I came up he gave me one pound of Hard bread on the 4th October on the 8th he gave me 4 or 5 pounds of oatmeal. That was all I received from him for nine days with the Exception of two or three crumbs of hard bread that the Foreman Henry Moorash and David Graham once brought me in there pockets on the 12th he gave me 4 lbs of hard bread and 4 lbs of porck on the 20th he gave me 4 lbs of hard bread.

It is now 4 weeks since this affair happend and I am living at the same Rate still with my Chest Clothes And bed Clothes all locked up from me, I have suffered very much ever since for the want of some shiftings to put on.
