Halifax 8th April 1848

Sirs,

We have to acknowledge your communication under date of the 7th April and in reply beg respectfully to submit for the information of His Excellency the Lieut Governor the following facts relative to the Sale + Purchase of the "Fulton". The vessel was put up in the presence of the American Consul, who was acting as Agent and on behalf of the owners, as well as a large Assembly of private individuals, and was sold to Mr John Campbell for £25- the state and position of the Schooner being as fully described as the information we had at the time enabled us to do. Subsequently we received the Provincial Secretarys instructions conveying to us the Lieut Governors directions to retain possession of the Vessel, until further investigation should be made which we complied with, and have now in pursuance of the instruction conveyed to us in your letter of yesterday given an
order
