Halifax N.S. 27 Sept 1849

Sir

I have the honor to inform you that I received a letter by the Steamer this week from the Spanish Consul General, London, informing me he had paid over to my Agents in London, by order of the Spanish Government, £78.15.11 Sterling, being £4.19.9 St.g less than my demand for advances to shipwrecked seamen of the Spanish Br.g "Bella Maria".

As the Arbitrators in awarding salvage to Sable Island made provision for this advance out of the money saved, I conceived myself] fairly entitled to my Commission for the trouble I have had in securing this money for the Island. I therefore beg leave to enclose
