misconduct, by the Superintendent, to the Board of Works, forfeit not less than one or more than three months wages"

In consideration of Hawkins having been on Sable Island (as Cook) for the last three years, and this the first complaint against him, the Board have dealt with it as leniently as possible, and will retain from bal.d [balance of] wages due him up to 19th inst, one & a half months wages (or £4.10), which amt will be placed to the credit of the Province, when a settlement with Hawkins (who has not been in the Office since his return from Sable Island on 19th inst.) is effected –
