Additional Notes: Microfilm 12183 includes a book of Birth, Marriage and Death registers for Barronsfield, Elysian Fields, Francklyn Manor, Maccan and Nappan.

Microfilm 12689 contains the Maccan, Cumberland County, Township Records. A note on the first page of records states that the Maccan District includes Nappan, Fenwick, Athol, Southampton, Mapleton, Leamington, West Brook, Canaan, and Halfway River. These records include minutes of town meeting, financial accounts, and the records of the Overseers of the Poor. There are no vital statistics.

MG 4 vol. 232 is entitled Township Records of Southampton: A Register of Births, Marriages, Deaths and Marks of Cattle in the District of Maccan, Nappan, and Southampton for the County of Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. This volume also includes entries for River Herbert, Barronsfield, and occasionally Parrsboro. Researchers are advised to use these records in conjunction with the two original registers for Francklin Manor, Elysian Fields, etc. There is close correlation and also overlap between these two sets of records (microfilm 12183).

The cattle marks are 1781-1860.
