What is happening April 1st?

On April 1st Nova Scotia’s 9 district health authorities will come together as one under a new leadership team. 

The new Nova Scotia Health Authority will work to provide consistent care across the province, reduce wait times, and improve access to community based health care.

Will services at my local hospital be affected?

No, on April 1st the health system will operate as “business as usual.”

There will be no change to appointments, surgeries, or any health care facilities due to the consolidation of the health authorities. 

Local and regional hospitals and health care facilities will provide the services you and your family rely on.

Are phone numbers changing?

No, phone numbers to your family doctor, local and regional hospital and health care facilities will remain the same. 

You can still dial 8-1-1 to speak to a registered nurse or call 9-1-1 in the case of a health emergency any time, day or night.

Are there any changes that would affect getting an appointment with my family doctor?

No, access to your family doctor, local and regional hospitals and health care facilities will remain the same.
