Catherine Gaulton (Chair)
Ms. Gaulton is Vice President of Performance Excellence and General Counsel for Capital Health.  In this role she combines her over 32 years of history with the health system first as a registered nurse and then as a lawyer with a practice which includes many aspects of health, governance, quality, patient safety and ethics.  Ms. Gaulton is chair of the board for the Canadian Patient Safety Institute and the Nova Scotia Health Organizations Protective Association.

Dr. John Chiasson
Dr. Chiasson is a family physician with more than 30 years of clinical experience. He has a strong interest in social determinants, leadership and health transformation. He is the Past President and current chair of Doctors Nova Scotia.

Dr. Linda Courey
Dr. Courey is a psychologist and Director of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Cape Breton District Health Authority. She has participated in several local, provincial and national initiatives related to patient safety, particularly in relation to mental health.

Theresa Fillatre
Ms. Fillatre is the Senior Director Atlantic Canada and national Safer Healthcare Now program for the Canadian Patient Safety Institute. She works with all Atlantic Health Ministries and Regions and chairs the Atlantic Health Quality and Patient Safety Collaborative.

Janet Knox
President and CEO of Annapolis Valley District Health Authority, Ms. Knox has broad experience in clinical care, education of health professionals , health policy and board governance.

Dr. Andrew Lynk
Dr. Lynk is a pediatrician and Associate VP Medicine in Cape Breton District Health Authority. He is past President of the Canadian Paediatric Society. His interests include quality and safety, advocacy, leadership and governance.

 

Ex-Officio Members

MJ MacDonald
Ms. MacDonald is executive director of the Health Quality Safety and Wait Time Improvement branch in the Department of Health and Wellness. She is the former director of Prevention Services from the Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, where her work focused on the prevention of injury and promotion of worker safety throughout Nova Scotia.

Suzanne Rhodenizer Rose
Ms. Rhodenizer Rose is director of Quality and Patient Safety for the province. She is a former president of the Community and Hospital Infection Control and Epidemiology Association Nova Scotia chapter and prior to this she was Infection prevention control consultant and has worked in various staff nursing and leadership positions.

Terrilyn Hayward
Ms. Hayward is the senior policy analyst for Quality and Patient Safety, DHW. She is the former program administration officer in Addiction Services, DHW and prior to this was a research and statistical officer for the South Shore, South West, and Annapolis Valley health authorities.
