Filing a Notice of Intent

You would file a Notice of Intention to Appear in Court for two reasons:

1. You wish to plead not guilty and are requesting a trial for your case, or

2. You wish to plead guilty, but also wish to request a court hearing with regard to your penalty or fine.

To file a notice of intent, simply go to any courthouse with a copy of your ticket (or send your representative). In certain cases involving driver's license or insurance charges you may also need to bring additional documents (call 1-877-445-4012 for specifics).

A court clerk will complete the form with you, and once processed, you will receive a court date for your hearing either by email, fax or mail based on your preferences. You will also have the option of requesting your hearing in French, English, English and French, or of requesting another language interpreter.
