Sandy Bay Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

O.I.C. 84-1386 (December 4, 1984), N.S. Reg. 284/84


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 14th day of November, A.D., 1984, pursuant to Section 5(1) of Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act, is pleased to designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high water mark of Sandy Bay Beach, in the County of Queens, as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-13-50 marked Schedule “B” and described in Schedule “A”, both Schedules attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.



Schedule “A”


All that certain area of land lying landward from the mean high water mark of Sandy Bay Beach, situate near Sandy Bay Landings, in the County of Queens, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown on Field Plot No. P-117/84 (C.L.R. No. E-13-50) filed at the Department of Lands and Forests Office, Halifax, Nova Scotia, a copy of which is attached hereto and being more particularly described as follows:


Beginning at Rock Post No. Q2770 situate on the rocky headland at the eastern end of aforementioned Sandy Bay Beach and situate (by grid bearings referred to the Nova Scotia 3° Modified Transverse Mercator Projection, Zone 5, central meridian 64° 30' west longitude) S 39° 26' 54" W, 7142.21 feet from Nova Scotia Coordinate Monument No. 14900, having co-ordinate values (Northing 15 930 661.23', Easting 17 949 143.54');


From thence S 28° 13' 01" E, a distance of 25 feet more or less to the mean high water mark of Sandy Bay;


Thence westerly and southerly 8300 feet more or less along the mean high water mark of Sandy Bay Beach to Survey Marker No. Q2763 situate at or near the mean high water mark of Sandy Bay, said Survey Marker being S 44° 46' 58" W, 5084.75' from Survey Marker No. Q2770;


Thence N 25° 06' 13" W, 754.52' to Survey Marker Q2764;


Thence N 18° 17' 26" W, 1021.55' to Survey Marker No. Q2765 situate at or near the mean high water mark at the southern end of a small pond;


Thence northeasterly along the mean high water mark of the southeastern side of said pond 500' more or less to Survey Marker Q2766, said Survey Marker being N 29° 45' 09" E, 435.06 [feet] from Survey Marker No. Q2765;


Thence N 25° 15' 00" E, 360.69' to Survey Marker No. Q2767 situate at or near the mean high water mark at the southern end of a small pond;


Thence northeasterly and easterly along the sinuosities of the mean high water mark of the southeastern side of said pond, of the southeastern side of a brook running into Long Lake and of the various bays and coves of Long Lake and adjoining ponds 5700' more or less to Survey Marker No. Q2768, said Survey Marker being N 59° 41' 34" E, 3604.79' from Survey Marker No. Q2767;


Thence S 79° 12' 30" E, 494.77' to Rock Post No. Q2769;


Thence S 28° 13' 01" E, 538.53' to the place of beginning.


Excepting and reserving from the above described area the existing public highway which runs in a northeasterly direction across the beach, the said public highway being 66 feet in width and shown on the aforementioned Plan No. E-13-50.
