Office of the Minister

Honourable Kelly Regan

Honourable Kelly Regan

Kelly Regan was elected to the Nova Scotia Legislature in June 2009 as the Member for Bedford-Birch Cove. In her first term, she served as the Official Opposition critic for a number of portfolios, including Education, Advanced Education, Labour, Status of Women, Community Services and Housing. She also served as Caucus Chair for two years, followed by a year as Whip.

Kelly was re-elected in the October 2013 provincial election in the riding of Bedford. On October 22, 2013, Premier Stephen McNeil appointed her to the Executive Council as Minister of Labour and Advanced Education, Minister responsible for the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act, and Minister responsible for the Workers' Compensation Act (except Part II).

Prior to being elected, she worked as an award-winning television director, producer, and writer.

Kelly was widowed at the age of 30, and the experience of raising two small children on her own gave her insight into the challenges faced by many Nova Scotians. She is known for being a passionate and compassionate advocate for her community as well as a collaborative problem-solver.

Kelly was named a Progress Club "Woman of Excellence" in the Communications and Public Affairs category in November 2012.

She is an honours graduate of the University of Waterloo's Co-op English Program.

Kelly has been married to Geoff Regan since 1993; they have three children.
