IMAGE INFORMATION


Peter Wilmot was born at Pictou Landing Reserve in 1826,and baptized 26 July 1826. At his death on 27 December 1932, he still was in possession of his baptismal certificate, proving his age. The photograph is labeled on reverse, "Micmac Indian, ex-chief Peter Wilmot, of Indian Reservation, Truro, Col. Co., N.S., aged about 90 years, (born about 1833) as he appeared at the Hector Celebration at Pictou, 15-21 July 1923." Wilmot had formerly been chief at Pictou Landing.
