Conservation Officer Honour Roll

Donald C. Wood
1925-1988

On September 9, 1988, while on patrol, Officer Wood was addressing a wildlife complaint that involved the use of explosives.

Although an expert in the use of explosives, Officer Wood was involved in an accidental explosion that claimed his life.  Officer Wood was a 30 year veteran of the Department.

Officer Wood is affectionately remembered by his fellow officers as Gentle Ben.  Donald was very knowledgeable in firearms and loved wildlife.

He had an incredible way with words and could match anyone in penmanship and his ability to write.

Donald was a respected officer and represented the Department very professionally.  Fellow officers still refer to his gentleman-like manner.
