Federal Infrastructure funding was recently approved for the construction of a coastal walking trail at Graves Island Provincial Park.
The coastal walking trail was one of several park redevelopment elements identified in the Park Concept Plan, reviewed at a public open house at Graves Island Park in the summer of 2008.
This walking trail will be constructed to accommodate and benefit a wide range of users and abilities.
Some of the existing trails will be utilized and upgraded, whereas other trail sections at risk from coastal erosion and storm damage, will be realigned to provide a sustainable nature-based coastal trail. Complementary viewing and resting opportunities will be added along the trail.
Trail plan and tender specifications are currently being prepared. Construction to commence in late Fall 2010. All work must be completed prior to March 31, 2011.
