N.S. MUSEUM--Sherbrooke Village Courthouse Concerts Offer Fall Package

The Sherbrooke Village Courthouse Concerts will be moving to Saturday nights for the month of September and part of October.

The autumn schedule will begin on Saturday, Sept. 8 as George Brothers, JP Ellis and Patrick Ellis present an evening of classic country, swing and blues at 7:30 p.m. This concert has become an annual reunion for the three musicians who performed together in the mid-to-late 70s as George Brothers and Ol' Blue.

On Sept. 15, multi-instrumentalist Michael Porter will be joined by musical friends including Dave Fogarty, Nora-Lee Gay and John Salvaterra to provide an eclectic mix of blues, folk and roots music.

On Sept. 22, country/gospel performer Gary Langley will be joined by a number of musical guests as he presents an evening of music that is sure to be uplifting and entertaining.

Sept. 29 will mark the return of Guysborough musician Steve Wright who, along with Chris Lumsden from Canso, will play a mixture of folk and traditional music that has been honed by repeated performances at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival.

Sherbrooke's best known musical export, folklorist and songwriter Clary Croft, will headline an annual benefit for the Historic Sherbrooke Development Society, on Saturday, Oct. 7. Mr. Croft will be joined by several of his local musical friends for the evening.

Another annual event is the Sherbrooke Shares concert, which will be held on Oct. 14. This concert, held in aid of the St. Mary's Food Bank, includes a number of musicians who have performed at Sherbrooke Village over this and past seasons. Pictou County recording artist Maurice Poirier is among the artists who will be returning to the courthouse to perform in the concert.

This year, concert organizers are offering the Two-Pack, a special autumn ticket package, which enables audiences to attend any two of the remaining six concerts at a greatly reduced rate. Ticket buyers will have their choice of using the Two-Pack for any two single performances. It can also be used to cover two admissions to any one performance. The cost of a Two-Pack is $10, compared to the rush ticket price of $16. Two-Pack tickets will be on sale at the Sherbrooke Village Administration office, daily until 5:30 p.m.
