Woodlot Owners Invited to Seminar

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Woodlot owners manage one of Nova Scotia's greatest resources, our forests. On April 12, Department of Natural Resources staff will host a seminar on managing this valuable forest resource wisely.

Several topics pertaining to woodlot owners will be discussed, including ATV use, low impact forestry options and updates on the provincial forest strategy. This session is part of the department's ongoing education initiatives for woodlot owners on how to effectively and sustainably manage their property.

"This seminar is designed specifically with the woodlot owner in mind with the objective of providing information on real-life topics in an accessible manner," said Natural Resources Minister Tim Olive.

For those unable to attend the one-day seminar, the department offers a woodlot management home study program online or through the mail. Individuals decide which topic they want to study and proceed at their own pace.

The woodlot owner seminar will be held in the Agritech Park gymnasium in Bible Hill from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Advance registration is available for a fee of $10. Registration will also be accepted at the door on the day of the seminar for a fee of $15. Lunch and refreshments are included in the registration fees.
