Ad Campaign Kicks Off National Safe Driving Week

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Jack Frost will help Nova Scotia drivers prepare for winter in a series of ads that's set to begin with the Canada Safety Council's National Safe Driving Week, Saturday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Dec.7.

The province's Winter's Coming ad campaign features a Jack Frost character answering questions on a radio talk show about getting ready for winter, with suggestions such as snow tires, winter wiper blades, and even an emergency travel kit. When winter arrives the campaign will switch to callers with questions about actual winter driving.

"At this time of year the weather can throw all kinds of tricks at us," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "By supporting National Safe Driving Week with this ad campaign we're reminding and encouraging drivers to prepare themselves and their vehicles for winter."

The department has safety links and winter driving tips on its website at: www.gov.ns.ca/tran/winter/ .
