Tenders Called for Four 2008 Paving Projects

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Nova Scotians will see improvements to highways this year because of four paving tenders called by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

The projects are spread over four counties and involve 30 kilometres of paving. The tenders will close at the end of January and the project details are as follows:

  • Halifax Regional Municipality: repaving on Trunk 7 from Moser River east for 9.2 kilometres to the Halifax-Guysborough county line

  • Hants County: repaving on Route 215 from the intersection of Sherman Lake Road east for eight kilometres to the intersection of Hiltz Road

  • Lunenburg County: repaving on Trunk 12 from the intersection of Chester Grant Road north for about 7.3 kilometres

  • Colchester County: repaving on Route 256 (Balmoral Road) from the intersection of Matheson Brook Road east for 5.5 kilometres to the intersection of Route 326.

"Keeping goods and people moving into, around and out of Nova Scotia is an important job," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Our department works hard to keep the province's roads in top shape and get the best out of our transportation dollar."

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
