Traffic Advisory, Flooding Report

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Heavy rains have caused roads to flood in several areas of the province. A list of known flooded roads is below and will be updated as other reports arise on the Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal web site at: http://ns.telenium.ca/map/map15.html#advisories.

ANNAPOLIS COUNTY:

Trunk 8 is closed until further notice between Highway 101 and the intersection of Virginia Road because of a culvert collapse. Repairs are expected to take several days. A detour route is available on the Virginia Road.


CAPE BRETON COUNTY:

Long Island Road is flooded near Bras d'Or. It is expected to be reopened on Thursday, Feb. 21, or Friday, Feb. 22.


Colchester County Park Street in Truro is expected to reopen later today, Feb. 20.

Branch and Ridge roads in Upper Stewiacke are expected to reopen Thursday, Feb. 21

Lake and Trout Brook roads in Tatamagouche should open by Sunday, Feb. 24.


CUMBERLAND COUNTY:

Cannon Road to Harrison Settlement is reduced to one lane. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution.

The following roads in Cumberland Co. are closed: Route 302 from Maccan to Little Forks, Smith Road and Boars Back Road.

Drivers are also advised of the following known washouts:
The westbound lane on Highway 104 is clear but the road shoulders are washed out between the toll booth and kilometre marker 50.

Washouts have also been reported in the Wentworth-Collingwood Road-Westchester area and on Wyvern Road and Silica roads.


GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY:

Route 348 road is flooded near Glenelg, St. Mary's District. A section of road is closed and water levels should be down today, Feb 20. A detour route is available and marked on Glenelg Church Road.

KINGS COUNTY:

The following roads continue to have closed sections:
Kings West Road, Kings East Road, Brooklyn Street, Bishopville Road (gravel section only), Biggs Road and Avonport Station Road.

Rainsforth Road and Musgrave Road are now reopened.

Access for emergency vehicles is still available in at least one direction for all roads.


QUEENS COUNTY:

Old Westfield Road and Medway River Road are both closed because of flooding.


LUNENBURG COUNTY:

Haines Road is closed because of flooding. A detour route is available on Farmington Road and Barss Conner Road.

Sleepy Hollow Road is closed because of flooding. A detour route is available on the Oakland Road to Trunk 3.

East Clifford Road is closed due to flooding. Three detours are available for motorists on Route 325, Route 208 and Upper Branch Road. The detours are marked.

Lower Branch Road, west of Trunk 10, is closed due to flooding. Traffic control consists of detour signs and flashing light units. Motorists are advised to use detour routes on Trunk 10, Route 208 and Lower Branch Road.

Ohio Road is closed due to flooding. Motorists are advised to take a detour route from Ohio Road onto Lower Branch Road., to School Street., onto Route 208. The detour is marked.
