Road-Paving Contract Awarded for Yarmouth County

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

A $1,450,245 road-paving contract in Yarmouth County has been awarded by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

The contract, was awarded to Dexter Construction Ltd. for repaving on Route 340 from the intersection of Hardscratch Road north for 7.4 kilometres to the intersection of Durkee Road near Pleasant Valley. The project is scheduled to be completed this summer.

"Secondary roads, 100-series highways and local roads all have an important part to play in the province's road network," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "The department is working hard to keep them in top shape."

This project is part of government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure as outlined in the speech from the throne.

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
