Province Awards Road-paving Contract in HRM

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

A $1,696,249 road-paving contract in Halifax Regional Municipality has been awarded by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

The contract was awarded to Chapman Bros. Construction Ltd. to repave Trunk 7 from Moser River east for 9.2 kilometres to the Halifax-Guysborough county line. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of summer.

"Not only is Trunk 7 a lifeline for people along the Eastern Shore, it's also a beautiful drive for visitors," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "During the past few years, we have invested more than $11-million on improvements to Trunk 7."

The project is part of government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure as outlined in the speech from the throne.

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
