Road Crews Working Hard to Repair Damage From Heavy Rains

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Crews are working steadily in several counties across the province to repair road damage caused by rains over the weekend.

"Our crews have been on the job since Monday and already completed many repairs around the province," Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, said today, Sept. 2. "We asked that drivers take extra care in areas affected by washouts while we work to finish the repairs."

Storm damage was widespread, primarily in the areas of Spry Bay, Chezzetcook, Middle Musquodoboit and the counties of Pictou and Inverness.

Culvert and shoulder washouts, driveway, road and shoulder erosion, and bridge damage are among the areas affected.

Department crews continue to assess the damage, with the cost likely to exceed $1 million.
