Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Nearly 10 kilometres of repaved highway will give drivers a smoother ride in Lunenburg County.

A $2,221,885 road-paving contract has been awarded to Dexter Construction Co. Ltd. by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

The contract is for repaving a section of Highway 103 from Exit 10 near Mahone Bay east for 9.5 kilometres. The project is scheduled for completion this summer.

"This work will result in a smoother and better road," said Brooke Taylor, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "We're pleased that the federal government is sharing the cost of this job with Nova Scotia."

The federal government is contributing $1.1 million to the paving project.

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
