511 Mobile System

Drivers across Nova Scotia now have access to 511 Mobile, a smartphone-friendly version of the current 511 system.

Brooke Taylor, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, introduced the service today, Feb. 10.

"We're very excited to offer this new service to Nova Scotians, and to make our road condition information even more accessible to the traveling public," said Mr. Taylor. "We always encourage drivers to check road conditions before heading out, and this new feature puts the information in the palm of their hands."

Using 511 Mobile, drivers can check a text-only version of the department's road conditions website, emergency situations and advisory listings before driving.

511 Mobile is a new service, and those experiencing any issues with the system are encouraged to report them by visiting the comments section of the website.

Drivers are reminded that use of hand-held cellphones and text messaging while driving is against the law.

Motorists are urged to check road conditions before driving, especially during the winter months, and to use added precaution when behind the wheel if adverse weather conditions exist.
