More Highway and Bridge Improvements Announced

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Better roads and bridges are on the way as tenders for highway improvements continue to roll out. Road paving, bridge repairs, culvert replacements and work on the Cabot Trail are among the $14 million worth of projects announced today, July 29.

"We are in the height of the summer construction season with road crews a common sight around the province," said Frank Corbett, acting Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Strong roads mean strong communities, and these highway projects are helping meet government's commitment to bring better roads to the people of Nova Scotia."

Planned spending for road improvements is over $100 million more than last year, making this year's highway improvement plan one of the largest in the province's history. A portion of the funding will come from federal programs.

"We now have a wide variety of projects underway, and people at work, right across Nova Scotia" said Mr. Corbett. "We thank Nova Scotians and visitors for their patience while we work to get the job done during our relatively short construction season."
