Nominations Open for French-language Services Excellence Awards

Acadian Affairs (to Oct. 2016)

People who have received excellent service in French from a Nova Scotia government employee can nominate that person for an award to recognize their work.

The Office of Acadian Affairs is accepting nominations in three categories for the second annual Bonjour! Awards for Excellence in French-language Services.

"The province is committed to developing and delivering programs and services for the Acadian and francophone community," said Acadian Affairs Minister Graham Steele.

"Last year's Awards for Excellence in French-language Services were a great success. I look forward to having the opportunity to once again formally recognize public servants who have embraced their work in providing services in French."

Last year's award recipients came from various areas of Nova Scotia such as Kingsport, Port Hawkesbury and Halifax.

The awards recognize outstanding contributions by Nova Scotia government employees to French-language programs and services. The public can submit nominations in the Excellence in Service Delivery to the Public category. Government employees can nominate colleagues in the Excellence in Leadership and Excellence in Program Development categories.

The awards selection committee will be comprised of representatives named by the Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse, Canadian Heritage, the Deputy Ministers' Advisory Committee for the French-language Services Act and the French-language Services Co-ordinating Committee.

The criteria for the Bonjour! Awards for Excellence in French-language Services and nomination forms are available at www.gov.ns.ca/acadian/excellence/ , by calling 1-800-670-4357, or by contacting bonjour@gov.ns.ca .

The deadline for nominations is Nov. 19. Successful nominees will be honoured at a ceremony in March.
