Minister Honours Nova Scotia Teachers

Education (July 1999 - March 2013)

Education Minister Marilyn More paid tribute to Nova Scotia's 10,000 public school, community college and Atlantic Province's Special Education Authority teachers today, Oct. 5, World Teachers' Day.

The annual day is an opportunity for all Nova Scotians to say thank you for the work teachers do educating students, Ms. More said.

"I applaud Nova Scotia's teachers for their commitment and dedication to our children's futures," said the minister. "Quality education depends on quality teaching and Nova Scotia is fortunate to have so many skilled professionals in our schools. In fact, we owe them our thanks everyday of the year, not just on Oct. 5."

World Teachers' Day is celebrated annually to highlight the important role of teachers. The theme for 2010 is Canadian Teachers – Doing it Right.
