Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations (Oct. 2000 - March 2014)

Nine projects have received funding to help improve public transit services in the province.

Through the Nova Scotia Transit Research Incentive Program, $350,000 will be invested in projects that include feasibility studies, development of a long-term plan, a discussion paper and pilot projects for community transit services in rural areas.

"Public transit is important to people throughout the province," John MacDonell, Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations said today, Jan. 19. "This funding will help communities in rural Nova Scotia enhance the service of its public-transit organizations."

"Funding from the program has provided resources to projects very important to our members and their communities," said Kathryn Gamache, chair of Community Transit-Nova Scotia. "These projects will produce research and build relationships that are key to sustainable transit services."

The program provides up to 75 per cent of eligible costs, to a maximum grant of $50,000, for approved projects.

Nova Scotia Transit Research Incentive Program is fully committed this fiscal year.
