May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in Nova Scotia

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

The province is proclaiming Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month to help prevent fatalities and increase driver attention to motorcycle traffic on Nova Scotia roads.

"Statistics tell us that May is the most dangerous month for motorcyclists," said Mr. Estabrooks. "We're asking all drivers -- motorcyclist and those in vehicles -- to be alert and especially careful as the use of motorcycles increases."

"We have averaged nine motorcycle fatalities per year for the last five years," said Jackie Norman, president and CEO of Safety Services Nova Scotia. "It takes everyone driving defensively to reduce death and injury."

"Raising the awareness of motorcycle safety to the motoring public can only help reduce pain and suffering."
