PUBLIC PROSECUTION SERVICE--Regional Crown Attorney Appointed

  • ---------------------------------------------------------------Veteran prosecutor Glen Scheuer has been appointed a regional Crown attorney, administrative, to help manage the Halifax and Dartmouth offices of the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service.

He will report to Denise Smith, chief Crown attorney for the Halifax region.

"I am delighted that a lawyer of Mr. Scheuer's calibre will be joining our management team," said Martin Herschorn, director of Public Prosecutions. "The PPS, and more specifically, the Halifax region, will benefit from his experience and expertise."

A native of Saskatchewan, Mr. Scheuer graduated from the University of Regina in 1991 with a bachelor of arts honours degree in political science. He graduated from Dalhousie University Law School in 1994 and articled with Gates and Company in Regina, later being appointed an associate of that firm. The next year, Mr. Scheuer operated a general law practice and acted as a Crown attorney performing criminal prosecutions.

In 2001, Mr. Scheuer relocated to Halifax where he was appointed a Crown attorney with the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service. In 2007, he moved to the Halifax office of the Public Prosecution Service of Canada where, as Crown counsel, he concentrated on proceeds of crime and organized crime prosecutions.

Mr. Scheuer is active in his community as a volunteer with his church and other local organizations.
