Software Start-Up Expands Operations in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (Dec. 2004 - Nov. 2022)

An analytics software developer is expanding its operations in Nova Scotia to service the increasing demand for its products internationally.

Introhive Services Inc. has created a cloud-based software platform that analyzes relationships between an organization's employees and customers, colleagues, and friends, including social media, e-mail, electronic calendars and contacts. The software creates a company-wide view of relationships and helps businesses improve sales and marketing.

"Our success to date is a direct result of the amazing skills and talent that exist in the region," said Stewart Walchli, co-founder of Introhive. "Our continued growth depends on attracting more talented professionals in Nova Scotia. This support will help us accelerate our growth and, ultimately, our success."

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has signed a five-year payroll rebate agreement with Introhive to help the company expand into new markets. Introhive must create at least five full-time equivalent positions in the first year. Then the company can earn a rebate on payroll for up to 50 new positions.

If Introhive creates 50 new jobs, the company would add more than $12.5 million in salaries to Nova Scotia's economy, and employees would pay provincial personal income taxes of about $1.3 million. As a result, the company can earn up to $979,688 in payroll rebates through NSBI's Strategic Investment Funds.

New jobs will include account executives and salespeople with some technical positions, including software developers.

"It's exciting to see the success that Introhive is experiencing," said John Ludovice, managing director, investment attraction, NSBI. "The payroll rebate will help the company meet the demand from international markets and become more globally competitive."

Introhive was founded in January 2012 in Fredericton by Jody Glidden and Stewart Walchli, entrepreneurs who previously founded the content delivery application company Chalk Media, which was sold to Research in Motion in 2009. Many of the current team members come from BlackBerry, Radian 6 and Salesforce.com.
