Cromwell vs. Leon's Hearing to Reconvene

The Nova Scotia Human Rights board of inquiry in the Cromwell v. Leon's Furniture Limited case will reconvene Friday, Oct. 31, to hear about the status of ordered cultural competency training.

Board chair Kathryn Raymond, on April 8, ruled Garnetta Cromwell, an African Nova Scotian, experienced racial discrimination on a number of occasions while working as a sales associate at a Leon's in Dartmouth. Leon's staff was ordered to "be trained in cultural competency in the context of human rights under the oversight of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission."

The board of inquiry is scheduled to reconvene at 11 a.m., in the Bedford Room of the Hampton Inn and Suites, 65 Cromarty Dr., Dartmouth.
