Labour and Advanced Education (Jan. 2011 - Aug. 2021)

Labour and Advanced Education Minister Kelly Regan is sending condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of a fisherman who died, Thursday, Nov. 13, after falling from a wharf in Port Mouton, Queens Co.

"My heart goes out to this man's family and loved ones during this extremely difficult time," said Ms. Regan. "I want to assure them that we will try to help find answers as to why this happened and hope that, in some way, it helps to provide some comfort."

The Department of Labour and Advanced Education's occupational health and safety division is investigating.

This is the third workplace fatality in the fishing industry this year. In 2014, 16 Nova Scotians have died at work or as a result of a work-related illness.
