Minister Offers Condolences to Family of Deceased Worker

Acting Labour and Advanced Education Minister Karen Casey is sending condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of a fisherman who died Saturday, May 16, from a workplace accident in Pictou County.

The accident happened May 15.

"This is obviously a tremendously difficult time for this man's family and loved ones," said Ms. Casey. "I share the heartfelt sorrow of many across the province."

The Department of Labour and Advanced Education is investigating.

This is the 10th workplace fatality this year, and the fourth by sudden accident. In 2014, 19 Nova Scotians died at work or from a work-related illness.
