February 25, 2009 4:45 PM
Education Minister Judy Streatch is pleased the province's 10,000 unionized public school teachers have accepted a new two-year agreement with the province.
Members of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union ratified the agreement today, Feb. 25.
"This is good news," said Ms. Streatch. "Both parties worked very hard to reach an agreement that is fair to teachers, affordable to the province and in the best interests of public education."
The agreement will see teachers receiving a 2.9 percent salary increase in each of the two years of the agreement. The contract will expire on July 31, 2010.
