September 29, 2009 2:18 PM
Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations Minister Ramona Jennex tabled amendments to the Motor Vehicle Act today, Sept. 29, that will address the issue of Certificate of Registration fees for vehicle dealerships.
Since 1991, dealerships seeking a Certificate of Registration in the company's name have been charged a fee. The amendments will clarify that practice in legislation.
The Certificate of Registration is a document produced when a vehicle is transferred and is recorded in the new owner's name or the name of a dealership, when a new vehicle is registered initially, or when a vehicle enters Nova Scotia from another jurisdiction.
The fee is determined by regulation and as of July 1, 2009, it is $11.86 .
