Children's Commissioner for England meets with Premier, Ombudsman

The premier and ombudsman will receive special insights on promoting the views and best interests of children and young people when they meet with the Children's Commissioner for England today, Nov. 6.
Albert Aynsley-Green acts as an independent voice for children and young people in England, championing their interests and bringing their views and concerns to the national arena.
During his visit, Dr. Aynsley-Green will have meetings with the premier, the Office of the Ombudsman and the staff of the ombudsman's youth services division.
"Dr. Aynsley-Green is an expert in children's issues, and we are very much looking forward to learning from him." said Premier Darrell Dexter. "We cherish our young people in Nova Scotia, and we will continue to make opportunities for them to get a good start and eventually put down roots here."
"The Office of the Ombudsman gives children and young people an opportunity to have their voices heard," said Dwight Bishop, the ombudsman for Nova Scotia. "Dr. Aynsley-Green's visit is an opportunity for us to learn a new approach to help young people meet their challenges."
Dr. Aynsley-Green has a keen research interest in the history of children and childhood and their standing in contemporary society. He trained at Guy's Hospital Medical School, University of London; Oriel College, University of Oxford, and the University Children's Hospital, Zurich, Switzerland. He received many national and international honours and was knighted for his services in the queen's 80th Birthday Honours list in 2006.
