New Chair For the Workers' Compensation Board

The province has appointed Elaine Sibson as the new chair of the Nova Scotia Workers' Compensation Board.

Ms. Sibson will take over from Chris Power who has been acting in the position since the departure of Ray Ivany. Mr. Power will remain on the board as deputy chair.

"I would like to congratulate Ms. Sibson on her appointment and thank past chair Ray Ivany and acting chair Chris Power for their hard work," said Marilyn More, Minister of Labour and Workforce Development. "Workplace safety is a shared responsibility for all Nova Scotians and I look forward to working with Ms. Sibson as we continue to do our part."

Ms. Sibson is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and former managing partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She brings expertise in board management, serving as program chair of the Institute of Corporate Directors and as past chair of the Canadian Tax Foundation.

The appointment is for a five year term with the possibility of reappointment.
