Aspiring artists and music lovers will have the chance to develop their songwriting skills, enhance their musical talent and work with talented instructors this summer at the Sherbrooke Village music camps.

The Road to Stanfest Songwriters Camp, in partnership with the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, will be held June 27-29 in Sherbrooke Village.

This year's line up of instructors features James Keelaghan, David Francey, Craig Werth, Clary Croft, and Susan Crowe who will work with writers of all levels. Students will have the opportunity to compete for special performance spots at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival's Wish You Were in Sherbrooke Now? stage show.

"It continues to astound me to see how much self-assurance budding songwriters gain and the camaraderie developed among all participants in only four days," said camp organizer Lynn Hayne.

The following week, from July 3-6, the Sherbrooke Now Fiddle Camp will feature top instructors Ivan and Vivian Hicks, and Stacey Read. Students at all levels can receive instruction in fiddle, guitar, and piano in historic Sherbrooke Village.

In addition to the daily classes, informal musical gatherings are held each evening at the Sherbrooke Village Courthouse with camp instructors and participants as the performers. A grand finale concert is held on the last evening of both camps.

The camps have been enhanced with promotional and financial support from the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada Foundation, the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada, and ExxonMobil.
