Education Minister Ramona Jennex and Labour and Advanced Education Minister Marilyn More will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing schools, colleges and universities in the 21st century with their counterparts from across Canada this week.

Provincial and territorial ministers responsible for public and post-secondary education are gathering in Halifax until Friday, July 6, for the 100th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada.

"This is a great opportunity to share knowledge and work together on some of the issues we have in common," said Ms. Jennex, the council chair. "The environment in which teaching and learning occurs is changing rapidly. Canada's provinces and territories are leaders in educational achievement, but there are always new challenges to face."

Ms. Jennex will lead a discussion on provincial and territorial anti-bullying and cyberbullying initiatives and talk about the work underway in Nova Scotia. Other conference topics include early childhood education and international education.

"As ministers of education, we are united in our commitment to ensuring that schools in Canada provide a safe and welcoming environment for all students," Ms. Jennex said.
