Service Disruptions in Amherst

Some provincial government services continue to face disruptions today, Aug. 29, following a fire in Amherst on the weekend.

Regular service is expected to resume Thursday, Aug. 30, for all departments. In the meantime, the public should note the following changes:

-- Addictions and Continuing Care services are now open in their offices after temporary relocations. Mental health services are still off-site and clients should call the switchboard at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, 902-667-3361, and ask to be connected to mental health services.

-- Services for the Amherst Department of Environment office have been temporarily relocated to the nearest office in Truro, located at 36 Inglis Place. The public can also call the Truro office at 902-893-5880.

-- Community Services offices remain temporarily closed. Income Assistance has been temporarily relocated to Cobequid Housing Authority, 144 East Victoria St., Amherst. For Community Services inquiries in the area, including Child Welfare, the public can call 902-667-3336. Interruption to client services is expected to be minimal, with re-opening anticipated as early as noon today.

-- The Amherst area Land Registry Office has been temporarily relocated to the Access Nova Scotia Centre in the Superstore Mall, 126 South Albion St., Amherst, until Tuesday, Sept. 4. Land registry services are also available online at gov.ns.ca/snsmr/access/ .
