Students Benefit from Upgraded Classrooms

Education and Early Childhood Development

Students at Rocky Lake Junior High in Bedford will have new Family Studies and Technology Education labs, thanks to provincial funding.

The province has invested $775,000 in renovations to make the upgrades as well as refurnish hallways, and improve washrooms and other classroom spaces.

"Schools are the heart of a community. They are places to learn, grow and establish relationships," said Ramona Jennex, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. "We're putting kids and learning first as we renovate schools in communities across the province. Rocky Lake Junior High will be well-equipped to offer Family Studies and Technology Education to students, which will enhance their learning experience."

Family Studies and Technology Education offer hands-on learning and help students develop and practice practical skills for daily living.

"This is a very exciting opportunity for our community and board," said school board member Steve Warburton. "These funds will allow us to provide the very best for students as they transition into their new school."

Students in grades 7 to 9 from Bedford Junior High and Bedford South will relocate in September to Rocky Lake Junior High, formerly Charles P. Allen High School, in Bedford.
