Nova Scotia Celebrates Pink Shirt Day

Education and Early Childhood Development

Nova Scotia students, families and community members are encouraged to speak out against bullying and cyberbullying and to celebrate Pink Shirt Day, today, Feb. 26.

"Bullying and cyberbullying continue to be harmful, complex issues in our schools and communities," said Karen Casey, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. "It is important that we, as Nova Scotians, speak up against bullying every day, not just on anti-bullying days. Only then can we create a province that is safe and inclusive for everyone."

Over the last year, the province has worked to support anti-bullying, including launching the CyberSCAN unit, creating an online tool for students and parents to make reporting bullying or cyberbullying easier, and creating a comprehensive reference guide for parents and guardians.

Pink Shirt Day is held on the last Wednesday in February.
